Explanation of Statistical References:

The "Total" is just that - it's the total sum of the data for that subset added together.

The "Average" is the Total divided by the number of study subjects for that subset.

The "Range" is the least & greatest data for that subset.

So, for example, if we look at the Sire's Age subset of data:

For this example, there were 7 study subjects (# of joeys).

  • The sire's ages are (arranged by age, in years): {2.0, 2.0, 2.5, 2.5, 3.0, 3.0, 4.5}
  • Add all those numbers together for the "Total" of 19.5.
  • 19.5 is then divided by 7 for the "Average" of 2.79 yrs.
  • The "Range" is then the first (least) and last (greatest) number of the subset, thus: 2.0, 4.5

This data was updated on 2/17/2010 and includes all data collected to date.
